What is “AKI MATSURI”?
In Japan, AKI MATSURI (Autumn Festival) is a cherished seasonal tradition held to give thanks for the fall harvest.
It’s a lively, community-centered event where friends and families gather to enjoy food, music, and seasonal festivities.
Highlights of AKI MATSURI Japanese Festival
-Authentic Festival Eats & Sake: Enjoy delicious Japanese street food, and visit the Sake Pavilion (21+) for curated tastings.
-Cultural Arts: Explore Ikebana (flower arranging) workshop, Tea ceremony, and shop for unique kawaii crafts.
-Kids Activity: Kids can dive into traditional Japanese festival games (like Yo-Yo fishing), try hands-on crafts such as Mask painting.
-“Nevada Ondo” Dance: a local Japanese folk dance (Bon Odori) created specifically for this festival. The steps are simple and fun, so everyone is invited to jump into the dance circle!
This year, AKI MATSURI is expanding onto Water Street, with even more vendors and more festival fun to explore!
You can also enjoy the Mikoshi Parade by Rafu Mutsumi Kai from Los Angeles!
